Hi-tech: furniture, hardware, lighting
The hi-tech style has gained significant popularity and is highly sought after among creative young people. The interior in hi-tech style is ultra-modern, embodying the era of rapid technological progress and inviting one to keep up with the times.
The contemporary and ergonomic hi-tech style, which originated in the late twentieth century within the realms of late modernism, is based on minimalism, which means maximizing light and free space in the interior design of the apartment.
INTERIOR IN HI-TECH STYLE
This design style is characterized by pragmatism, restrained decor, strictness, simplicity, and real functionality. High technology – as the name of the style suggests – is at its core.
FEATURES OF THE STYLE
The hi-tech design style extensively utilizes:
- Modern construction materials (glass, plastic, metal).
- The latest technological trends.
- Original configurations and impeccable forms.
- Prestigious design ideas and fresh authorial decorative techniques.
When styling an interior in the hi-tech style, design studios often rely on a strict color palette: black, white, metallic tones, and shades of gray. Other clean shades (such as red or blue) can also be present. A bright color is chosen as a single accent. Hi-tech does not tolerate garish colors or excessive ornamentation. Their absence is compensated by the shine of metal, space, an abundance of natural light, and sunlight reflections on glass.
FURNITURE, HARDWARE
The characteristic straight lines and strict geometric forms of hi-tech require an appropriate approach to selecting furnishings. The main requirement of the style for furniture is a minimal number of items, functionality, and practicality. The furniture can have a simple, standard appearance or, conversely, feature extraordinary futuristic designs. An excellent solution for stylish design would be furniture that can be hidden in walls or modular furniture structures, such as transformable sofas with faux leather surfaces. Shiny hardware is used. All home appliances are integrated into the furniture ensemble, forming a cohesive whole with the elements of the interior, remotely controlled, and serving as decor simultaneously.

LIGHTING
The combination of metal and glass, chrome and mirrored surfaces requires harmonious lighting, as the reflected rays of light accentuate the style’s advantages. In the hi-tech style, there can be a variety of lighting fixtures – wall-mounted, floor lamps, ceiling lights, built into furniture. The main task of artificial lighting is to emphasize the effect of a large and bright space. The appearance of the light fixtures should also correspond to the style’s character.
