Design Tips for Hotels
It is well known that when choosing a hotel, visitors pay attention firstly to the appearance of the establishment, and only then to the equipment, quality of service and amenities. A beautiful designer interior can become a powerful advertisement and a means of attracting new customers. Agree, a hotel decorated by a fashionable designer will not miss the opportunity to mention it in all advertising brochures. Many establishments have focused precisely on unusual designer interiors and have not regretted it! For example, the Round Hill Hotel and Villas premium-class hotel complex in Jamaica, where the rooms have ocean views and the design was developed by Ralph Lauren. Or one of Karl Lagerfeld’s works – the Hotel de Crillon in Paris and the La Reserve luxury suite with luxurious antique furniture, expensive marble facing and exquisite bedding.
FEATURES OF A DESIGNER HOTEL
You can distinguish a designer hotel from a regular one by some characteristics:
Correlation of cultural and landscape characteristics of the area and the created interior
The design process begins with an analysis of the location and geographical location of the object. Thus, in hotel interiors located outside the city or in the forest, natural wood is used and panoramic glazing that opens up a beautiful view is often applied. Hotels in the central or historical part of the city can be decorated in the style of modern, rethought classics. And hotels in residential areas are often played out in modern minimalist interior design trends. Also, with the author’s approach of the designer, the interior can reflect the culture, history, and originality of the region (for example, include paintings by local artists in the visual range).

Unconventional concept
If, upon arriving at the hotel, you lost touch with reality for a few moments (at least), then a professional designer worked on the project. The scale of the concept can be a quality check of the work – with the right approach, style is reflected in the details, such as table settings and brushstrokes on curtains.
Good amenities
Today, hotels are expected to impress visitors with their technology. Everything should be well thought out and ergonomic – the client should not feel discomfort. However, new technology should not be applied at the expense of the design concept.
Collections of art and antiques
Luxury hotels often have their own collections of paintings or sculptures. Such exhibits can become an accent in the interior design of the hotel restaurant, be located in the lobby, lounge areas, vestibule, and rooms.

ASPECTS OF HOTEL INTERIOR DESIGN
When it comes to hotel interior design, there are several aspects to consider.
Finishing materials
The entire room finish should be easy to clean and withstand multiple treatments with chemical cleaning agents. The finishing should also be of high quality in terms of durability and fire safety. Network hotels usually have their own color and style regulations, which the designer should take into account. Boutique hotels and individual hotels usually give designers more room for creativity.
Color
According to the common rules, the use of bright and active colors is not welcome in the hotel room design. Since everyone is different, it is unknown how a bright and intense color will affect a particular guest. Therefore, light, calm, and warm tones are used in the design of hotel rooms. The standard part of the hotel rooms is usually designed in a uniform style. Accents are recommended to be added in the form of textiles (curtains, carpets, bedding), paintings, and decorative items. Several rooms from the general fund (of increased comfort, suites, etc.) can be highlighted with color without disrupting the overall concept and style.
Lighting
Special attention is paid to the lighting of the bathroom, entrance area, and work area. Additional light sources such as turning lights, hanging and table lamps, torchieres, etc., are used to increase the lighting in these areas. According to approved lighting standards, the illumination of hotel room premises should be at least 150 lux. In rooms with an area of more than 15 sq.m., the lighting should be multi-level.
At Maria Malyarevich Design Studio, we understand that hotel interior design requires significant investment, and we will do everything possible to ensure that our design contributes to the establishment’s rating and quickly recovers the investments.
